Het project is gelegen in een woongebied met landelijk karakter gekenmerkt door een duinlandschap eigen aan de kustregio. Dit duinlandschap wordt gekenmerkt door glooiende duinen begroeid met hoogstammige naaldbomen. Alle woningen uit de buurt zijn vrijstaand. Het perceel ligt rechtover de Royal Zoute Golf Club en kijkt er ook op uit. De gewild tijdloze architectuur heeft een eenvoudige vormgeving die die duidelijk leesbaar en identificeerbaar is en harmonisch aansluit met de omgevende bebouwing eenvoudige vormen zijn. De woning bestaat uit een kelderverdieping en twee bovengrondse verdiepingen. Om een maximale natuurlijke lichtinval te bekomen zijn de hoofdgevels van de woning noord – zuid geörienteerd. De tuin vormt een natuurlijke overgang naar het nabijgelegen golfterrein.
La maison se caractérise par son utilisation des matériaux. Le projet visait une uniformité de l'architecture avec l’environnement. Les briques et les tuiles sont fabriquées à partir du même type d'argile et ont les mêmes finitions, structures et tailles, les façades et le toit se confondent. Les façades en retrait sont réalisées dans du bois thermo-traité, qui a subi un processus de vieillissement naturel et acquis une couleur sable. La maison a un grand renfoncement à l'entrée, ce qui accentue clairement cette dernière. Sur la façade sud se trouve également un grand renfoncement dans le volume, formant une terrasse et servant de pare soleil pour les fenêtres des chambres. La forme du toit est particulière, passant d’un toit pointu à un toit plat légèrement incliné. Dans la zone du toit sud, une courbure est ajoutée, courbure se répétant plusieurs fois dans la conception de la maison.
The design, of timeless architecture, in harmony with the surrounding buildings, shows simple forms that are clearly readable and identifiable. The house is built entirely of sand-coloured clay, excluding the windows which present a dark brown colour tone. Both bricks and roof tiles are made from the same kind of clay and have the same finish, structure and size. As a result, the façades flow seamlessly into the roof. Subordinate and re-entrant facades are made of heat-treated wood that has undergone a natural aging process and therefore becomes sand-coloured.
De woning wordt gekenmerkt door zijn materiaalgebruik. Hier wordt gestreeft naar een architectuur die eenvormig is met zijn omgeving. De gevelstenen en de dakpannen zijn vervaardigd uit dezelfde kleisoort en hebben dezelfde afwerking, structuur en afmetingen zodat de gevels en het dak ongemerkt in elkaar overvloeien. De terugspringende geveldelen worden uitgevoerd in thermisch behandeld hout dat een natuurlijk verouderingsproces heeft ondergaan en hierdoor eveneens zandkleurig wordt.
Le rez-de-chaussée comprend un hall d’entrée, des sanitaires, un salon, un bureau, une salle à manger et une cuisine avec débarras. Compte tenu du caractère ouvert du rez-de-chaussée, ces espaces sont en contact les uns avec les autres, selon différentes perspectives. L'étage compte cinq chambres, chacune équipée d’une salle de bain. Chaque chambre permet un accès direct à la terrasse. Au sous-sol se trouvent le garage, un débarras, la cave à vin et des locaux techniques.
The house has a large recess at the entrance, just to clearly accentuate it. A further recess in the volume can be found on the south facade, where it forms a terrace and creates a canopy serving as sunshade for the full-high windows of the bedrooms. The roof shape is special, as it ingeniously blends from a pointed to a flat roof with a slight slope. On the southern area of the roof a curve is added. This curvature is repeated multiple times within the design of the house. The ground floor contains an entrance hall, sanitary facilities, a living room, a home office, a dining room and a kitchen with storage. Given the openness of the ground floor, these spaces are constantly in contact with each other in various perspectives. The first floor accommodates five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Every bedroom has direct access to the terrace. The garage for five cars, bicycles, motorbikes, storage rooms, wine cellar and technical areas are located in the basement.
De woning heeft aan het inkomgedeelte een grote uitsnijding, met de bedoeling deze inkom duidelijk aan geven. Aan de zuidgevel is er op de verdieping tevens een grote insnijding in het volume, welke enerzijds een overdekt terras vormt en tegelijk dienst doet als zonnewering voor de verdiepingshoge ramen van de slaapkamers. De dakvorm is ongebruikelijk door het feit dat deze van een zadeldak overgaat naar een lichtjes hellend plat dak. Op het zuidelijk deel van het dak werd een kromming aangebracht die meerdere malen hernomen wordt in het ontwerp van de woning.
De gelijkvloerse verdieping bevat een inkomhal, sanitaire voorzieningen, een leefruimte, een bureau, een eetruimte en een keuken met berging. Gezien het open karakter van het gelijkvloers staan deze ruimtes doorlopend met elkaar in verbinding volgens verschillende perspectieven. De verdieping bevat vijf slaapkamers met elk hun eigen badkamer. Elke slaapkamer heeft een rechtstreekse toegang tot het terras. Op de kelderverdieping bevinden zich een garage voor vijf auto’s, fietsen, moto’s, de bergingen, wijnkelder en technische ruimtes.
